Fibromyalgia Today

Fibromyalgia pain
I suffer from Fibromyalgia.  This painting is me, suffering.  The grey blue represents the exhaustion and depression that is linked with it.

Symptoms include joint pain and general pain, tiredness, a bad smell.  when it gets worse, I got miofascial when I hurt ALL over, not just the area of the joints and then chronic fatigue symptoms.

The good news is that my fibromyalgia has been improving.  I still have flare-ups, but at my worst, I am usually better now than I used to be at my best, although I still depressed by the whole cycle.

Here is what I think has helped me:

1)Sleeping better.  I got a CPAP machine which I have a love-hate relationship with. I still have insomnia and my fibro is worse on my insomnia days.
2)Eating better:  it may be different for different people, but I have to avoid SOY, DAIRY Sugar, white flour and keep legumes (beans etc) to a minimum.
3)Exercising regularly really helps me!  I walk and do stretching exercises.  I move around.  If I sit too long or do anything else too long, I stiffen up--I think this is part of what gives me insomnia.

rentheld crockHello,
I am working thru a flare of my fibromyalgia. I am on Celebrex which keeps me functioning but I went out to dinner sat nite and despite eating what I thouht was prettysafe food i got very sick and then the muscle pain started, headaches nonstop and incredible exhaustion. My legs are still shaky. Went to my dr today, she took blood because I have swollen lymph nodes in my neck, but she thinks it is a seasonal flare. I am trying to rest. I hate how much time I have lost from work and from my life due to this condition. i feel guilty all the time. I feel stressed eventho I know stress is bad for me. It is nice to find some folks who are going thru the same thing. I need to exercise every day. I ride horseback 2x a week but thatv is not enough. I have a very hectic work scheduel, there is not enough time in the day to get everything done I am supposed to do. I need to cut back but I have had to add more work since my husband was laid off a year and a half ago...Life is hard, isn't it? Thank you for listening.

Hi Judy,

I hope things clear up in your life!

I know a number of people who have managed to control their fibromylagia at least to some extent through life-style choices (and/or medication.)

I still suffer a lot of pain sometimes (like yesterday), but my worst days are better than best days used to be--in other words, things have improved. They are far from perfect, but they are better./

I am sorry they are so difficult now--I do hope they get better.
