I have been on my diet a month today. I have lost 23 pounds, or an average of just under 6 pounds a week. (This is assuming that the new scale is relatively synchronized with the old one which died over a week ago.) I do not look much if any different and my clothes are not significantly looser.
I am happy with this rate of loss and will be happy as well with an even slower one, if I just continue to lose and not gain.

Congratulations! You have made amazing progress.
Wat togo. I am really impressed and proud of you :-)
Best wishes

Thank you very much Berrybird and Clarice for your kind comments! YAY!
Unfortunately, I had a really big off diet meal last night at BB's daughter Pearl Gil's (otherwise known as Karoke Girl). (How do you spell that?) So now in order to continue my downward trek, I have to be extra vigilant for several days.
That should read Pearl Girl.
You have got to live a little too. All diet and no off days will make you dull, dull, dull. Thin but dull :-).
Have you given up sugar completely? I want to because I am a total addict. I have read that if you don't eat sugar for two weeks afterwards it tastes terrible and you don't want it.
Well, I have theoretically given up sugar.
But I had some last night in a bumbleberry pie which was quite tasty.
I am a sugar addict.
If I eat sugar, I crave it for about 4 days or more afterwards. I have terrible "hunger pangs" that really really HURT. (Something people don't understand). It takes about ten days to 2 weeks to cleanse the system, after which the cravings and much of my "hunger" are gone. But I have to also not eat white flour.
This is why I have to be so DULL and stick to the diet, because if I do not, it makes it very hard to get back on and I don't want to and sometimes I never do. And then I keep getting fatter. :-(
I don't want to be fat! WAHN!
But I love to eat.
Bad combination!
It is hard to go to someone's house and see other people eating yummy foods you can't have. My will power in such situations is extremely low.
I am in COMPLETE sympathy. I'll give up sugar from midnight in Paris time tonight -9 hours time, for a month....we may as well suffer together. A girl can never be too thin or rich or wel, dull I suppose.
Diet food is definitely dull.
Not all of, not all the time.
It's all the things you can't have that make it dull. Less variety.
Fewer "treats"
However, other foods taste better.
Carrots! Carrot soup--mmmm, fruit. Onions. The natural sugars taste sweeter.
I have cleaned out my cupboards, urged my daughter to hide her sweets, bought herbal tea and made carrot and cabbage soup. Now I just have to stick with it :-(
See you on the otherside....maybe
Congratulations! It does get easier after a while. I promise. I've been off sugar for about 10 years now. It's not dull to me anymore. My tastes have changed. I enjoy foods now that I would have never enjoyed before. Especially spicy foods. I've replaced sugar. Try new things. Experiment, and make it interesting. That's what I always tell my clients. Sometimes you have to make it really dull for a while, and then try something new. You'll appreciate the new food more that way. Anyway, I love to eat, too, and can sympathize with you. Keep up the good work :]
